Below are pictures of the first stage of the walk towards 90 Mile Beach
Below are some pictures of Cape Reinga
Below are some pictures of the view from The Bruce balcony, and some pictures of Mr Danger Cat. My camera sadly isn't that great at taking pictures at night, but hopefully you can see how beautiful it is!
Below are pictures of our attempt to do the Tararua Southern Crossing. You can hopefully appreciate how deep the snow got and why we had to turn back!
Below are some pictures of Wellington and my walk across the Skyline Track
Below are more pictures of beautiful Coromandel and the surrounding area. I know landscape pictures never look as good as when you see them, but it's just so stunning here!
Below is the progression of the outdoor clay pizza oven I was building for my first Helpx host. I had to leave before I could get any further, but hopefully you can see how it's nearly finished. It just needs the sand scooped out from inside once the outside has hardened. It was all made from odds and ends lying around, that's why the base looks rather untidy!
Below are some pictures from the way in and out of the Urewera
Below are some pictures from the Takaroa New Year Celebration. The lady I'm standing next to is Rose, or Mother as she is called by some. She is the wonderful and distinguished spiritual leader here, I was very honoured to have met, talked and done work with her. We had a full four seasons on weather in the 24 hours around the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, as you can see from the first two pictures, taken just less than a day apart. Also are pictures of the Blue Calcite I was given by one of Maori.
Below are pictures of beautiful Coromandel. In New Zealand's sub-tropical north it has the most stunning scenery I've ever seen. This is supposed to be the middle of winter! There are also pictures of the pottery done by Barry, the amazing man who built a railway up the hills you can see. All 3km of it laid by his own hand, and he built the trains that run on them!
Below are the first pictures of my journey, before I've started walking. Initially we have pictures of me in Sydney, stuck there due to the ash cloud. I went to the Botanical Gardens, where there were far too many bats! Then there are my first pictures of New Zealand's wonderful scenery. These were taken in Titirangi, just outside of Auckland. There are also pictures from my first Helpx host in Coromandel.
